“The undertaking crew Builder (PTB) meets the necessity for a good educating and coaching device of venture administration. The software program introduces the consumer to the total dynamics of undertaking making plans, tracking and keep an eye on, relocating scenario-wise from the straightforward, primary concerns to the extra concerned, complicated ones. in accordance with a valid conceptual beginning, it offers the best person and workforce education help for bringing initiatives to of completion successfully and successfully in a dynamic stochastic surroundings. hugely prompt”
Willy Herroelen, Emeritus Professor of Operations administration, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven
“The Engineering venture administration university of the Israeli electrical corporation (IEC) used the venture crew Builder simulator constructed on the Technion. utilizing PTB, it was once attainable to perform hazard administration whilst uncertainty is gifted in assets availability, period of actions and funds movement. The demanding situations offered to the scholars elevated motivation. the standard of the training approach, in addition to the top effects, was once excellent.”
Sergio Klik, Director, Engineering undertaking administration college, The Israeli electrical corporation
“PTB takes an enormous step within the correct path. It employs simulation on the way to positioned the coed within the actual state of affairs the place he has to plot and execute tasks by means of dealing with all matters instantaneously. specifically, it places the scholar in a state of affairs the place his venture is uncovered to danger. by way of this, the scholar has to mix the remoted and simplified perspectives on tasks, and he learns that possibility can materialize and that he has to devise and execute the venture for that reason. this can be a vitally important point of venture administration that's learnt via doing (and failing) and which has now not been brought this manner before.”
Rainer Kolisch, Professor of Operations administration, TUM college of administration, Technische Universität München

1 Introduction 55 Fig. 16 UDS cost of a feasible schedule This alternative schedule yields the same cash position at the end of the project $998800. To choose between these two schedules (and other feasible schedules that yield the same final cash position), more information is needed, for example the preferences of the stakeholders with respect to early completion of the project. Once a plan is selected, its execution will follow exactly (see Fig. 17): as there is no uncertainty in this scenario.
2 Precedence relations between tasks The estimated task duration is represented by a distribution. It is convenient and quite common to use a three-point estimate: 1. Optimistic duration—this is the estimated duration of the task (in a given mode) in the case that the task is performed in the shortest possible time. 2. Most likely duration—this estimate represents the duration of the task (in a given mode) that will be observed most frequently if the task is performed repetitively. 3. Pessimistic duration—this is the estimated duration of the task (in a given mode) in the case that the task is performed in the longest possible time.
Task splitting—In some scenarios, it is possible to split the execution of a task by setting a split/break point and a restart point. Splitting a task involves stopping a task on a certain time period before it is completed, and beginning it again on a later time period. Splitting a task is performed by setting two parameters: • Split At—this is the time period to split the task, in other words to stop it in order to restart it on a later time period. • Restart At—the time period of task restart.
