By Cesare Burali-Forti

This booklet was once digitized and reprinted from the collections of the collage of California Libraries. It was once made from electronic photographs created throughout the libraries’ mass digitization efforts. The electronic photographs have been wiped clean and ready for printing via computerized approaches. regardless of the cleansing strategy, occasional flaws should still be current that have been a part of the unique paintings itself, or brought in the course of digitization. This booklet and thousands of others are available on-line within the HathiTrust electronic Library at www.hathitrust.org.

Il libro raccoglie le principali vignette edite ed inedite del 1993. Un anno così burrascoso dal punto di vista politico da rappresentare, according to Forattini, un'autentica cuccagna.

Most of the early work (4) used aliphatic hydrocarbons as the dispersion medium. Recently, considerable interest (5-81 has been generated in using more polar solvents as the contmuous phase which 35 F. Candau and R. It has also been found possible to prepare particles up to 15 IJm diameter (9) in a single reaction. This is not possible using emulsion polymerization.

Furthermore, the kinetics of particle formation change dramatically (21) as the amount of carbon tetrachloride in the reaction medium is increased. The reaction kinetics will be discussed in more detail in Section 4. Here we draw the important conclusion that the solvency of the dispersion medium plays a crucial role in determining the particle size of the latex that is formed. The effect of the solvency of the dispersion medium on the final particle size in polar media has been published by Lok and Ober (6) and by Paine (18).
